How to Hear God’s Voice

Every person needs to talk to God throughout each day in order to keep their relationship strong and in order to hear God’s voice. If you stop talking to a friend what happens? Communication is the most important factor in any type of relationship. When we don’t think God is listening to us though, and we think our prayers go unanswered, and we think he doesn’t want to help, we can sometimes lose interest. Sometimes we go through periods of dryness. The 2 things that may get in the way of consistent prayer is your feelings of God not answering your prayers and/or the lack of time being set aside for prayer. However, prayer can be as simple as a short phrase of praise or gratitude or a scripture verse that helps you get through the day. Even though God seems to be silent for you, continue to pray, to talk to Him often. If you find God to be silent one needs to spend more time with God in His word and you will eventually hear His Voice, you will hear it spoken from Sacred Scripture to your heart and mind. You will hear God’s voice in your Church or Temple. You can hear God’s voice at Mass, He is present with Jesus all the angels and saints. You can hear God’s voice through a stranger. You can hear God’s voice in the silence. In Hebrews 4:16 16” Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” we are advised by God to approach with confidence which means believe in what you pray for, trust that God will answer your prayer. Sometimes the answer might not be obvious and this is why we must devote ourselves to hearing God’s voice through the many ways we have been blessed with in our lives. In Colossians 4:2-62 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” we are instructed to “devote” ourselves to prayer. Devotion brings blessings. Speak your prayers out loud and silently, speak to your problem and thank God before your prayers are even answered. May God bless your journey and may all your prayers be consistent, strong, powerful and answered!!!

Jesus Curses a Fig Tree
18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
